The chicken campaign that gripped the nation and encouraged us to buy free range

Statistics have just been announced that the sale of battery farm chickens have slumped since Hugh Fernley Whittingstall’s ‘Chicken Out’ campaign to stop people buying battery farmed chicken from supermarkets was launched at the beginning of this year. The campaign gripped the nation and has subsequently encouraged us to buy free range chicken instead of birds who have only been reared inside in cramped conditions. The report states there has been a 35% increase in sales in free range chicken compared to January 2007, with the sale of indoor birds falling by 7%; Source: TSNS
